About the Role

Role Overview

As a Senior AI Engineer, you will design and implement artificial intelligence solutions that address complex challenges in national security. Your work will center on large language models, data transformation, and model optimization, all within a secure and regulated environment. You'll play a key technical role in turning raw data into intelligent systems that deliver real-world impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy AI models that solve high-impact problems, from concept through production deployment.
  • Acquire, clean, and structure diverse datasets—both structured and unstructured—to prepare for model training and validation.
  • Train, evaluate, and refine large language models using modern frameworks, ensuring performance, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Perform feature engineering by identifying and extracting meaningful patterns from raw data to enhance model effectiveness.
  • Monitor live AI systems for performance, reliability, and anomalies using automated tools and alerting mechanisms.
  • Document technical architectures, model decisions, and implementation workflows to ensure maintainability and knowledge sharing.
  • Partner with data scientists, software engineers, and product teams to align AI development with operational needs and project goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in machine learning and AI development.
  • Proven track record in building and deploying machine learning models, particularly in NLP, generative AI, or predictive analytics.
  • Familiarity with Agentic AI frameworks such as Langchain, CrewAI, or Pydantic.
  • Proficiency in Python and Java for AI and software development tasks.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with CI Polygraph.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to team objectives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with attention to technical documentation.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of deep learning, reinforcement learning, and ensemble methods.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
  • Understanding of agile development, version control (e.g., Git), and software engineering best practices.

Work Environment

This is an onsite position located in Chantilly, Virginia, requiring presence at a government customer site. Candidates must be able to work on-site as part of a cleared team.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary for this role ranges from $127,500 to $172,500.
