Responsibilities
- Establish technical hiring standards for machine learning positions, lead or supervise technical evaluations, and make confident, well-justified hiring decisions.
- Conduct consistent, structured one-on-one meetings, deliver honest feedback at key points, and actively support individual career development at all experience levels.
- Identify high performers and address underperformance promptly and directly.
- Collaborate with HR business partners and the Director of AI/ML when formal processes are needed, and advocate for team members when appropriate.
- Maintain awareness of team utilization across projects, update staffing teams on evolving skills and preferences, and ensure assignments challenge and develop individuals.
- Lead comprehensive assessments of client ML environments, including infrastructure, data workflows, model lifecycle, and organizational maturity, to inform executive decisions and future opportunities.
- Act as the top technical authority on projects, defining architectural strategy, ensuring team-wide technical quality, and making critical decisions when tradeoffs arise.
- Guide clients in building maintainable ML systems by simplifying complex MLOps, LLMOps, and monitoring practices into executable standards for their teams.
- Support sales efforts by collaborating with sales and solutions teams during scoping and proposal stages, providing technical insight to accurately estimate work and build client confidence.
- Manage technical delivery from start to finish, guiding design and architecture, resolving difficult challenges, and upholding quality benchmarks.
- Serve as the primary technical contact with clients, responsible for architect-level outcomes, or act as senior technical lead providing oversight across multiple contributors.
- Improve internal capabilities by mentoring staff, participating in technical interviews, and developing reusable architectures and tools that elevate the entire ML practice.
