As an Android Engineer, you’ll take full ownership of crafting and delivering core features that reach millions of learners. Working within a compact, high-performing team, you’ll drive initiatives from early concept through to production, using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose to build intuitive, responsive experiences.
What You’ll Do
- Design, implement, and launch Android features with end-to-end responsibility.
- Partner closely with Product, Design, and Data teams to align development with user needs and business goals.
- Write clean, sustainable code that prioritizes readability and long-term maintainability.
- Contribute across platforms when needed, including iOS and web, to support unified product vision.
- Champion developer workflows and tools that improve team efficiency and product quality.
- Lead technical decisions with confidence, balancing innovation, stability, and impact.
- Support a culture rooted in honesty, high standards, and shared accountability.
- Always keep the learner’s experience central to design and implementation choices.
What We’re Looking For
- At least five years of professional software development experience.
- Deep proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android frameworks, especially Jetpack Compose.
- Demonstrated ability to ship meaningful features independently and at scale.
- Strategic mindset that weighs technical trade-offs alongside business outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, user-centered approach.
- Code that reflects clarity and purpose—built for people, not just machines.

Work Environment
This role supports hybrid work across New York City, San Francisco, or remote within the U.S. Core collaboration hours are set between 9:30 AM and 2:30 PM Pacific Time to enable real-time coordination across regions.
Benefits & Compensation
Medical, dental, and vision insurance are fully covered by the company. Dependent care is subsidized up to $1,900 per month. You’ll receive approximately six weeks of flexible PTO annually, inclusive of holidays, and parental leave is provided. Additional perks include a home office stipend, professional growth funding, and complimentary meals at our NYC and SF locations.
Salaries range from $180,000 to $240,000 per year, determined by a transparent, role-based system with no negotiation. Adjustments of 5–10% apply for locations outside SF and NYC. Equity is not part of this compensation structure.
