About the Role

Role Overview

The Assistant Director, Content Packaging is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of PBS programming for broadcast and digital distribution. This position ensures that both General Audience and Children’s content adheres to technical specifications and metadata requirements, serving as a key liaison between producers and internal departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with producers, Programming, Marketing, and Standards & Practices teams to monitor delivery schedules for assigned series and programs
  • Conduct thorough quality control reviews of media assets and associated metadata
  • Assemble and route General Audience and Children’s programming through appropriate distribution channels
  • Manage edit revisions, including supervision of changes and documentation of updates
  • Provide guidance to producers on PBS media submission requirements prior to delivery
  • Evaluate quality assurance findings and determine next steps for resolution
  • Support the Associate Director by facilitating communication with external partners
  • Assist the Media Operations Center in responding to producer inquiries about available services

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of five years in broadcast operations, traffic, production, or post-production environments
  • Proven experience coordinating both supervised and unsupervised editing sessions
  • Familiarity with broadcast traffic software systems
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong proofreading abilities
  • Excellent organizational and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines
  • Proficiency in conflict resolution and professional diplomacy
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with PBS programming and content standards

Work Environment

This is an onsite position with no remote flexibility. The role operates within a structured broadcast operations environment, requiring consistent coordination across teams and adherence to technical workflows.
