About the Role

Work within a leading UK regulatory practice advising providers across healthcare, education, and social care on compliance, investigations, and public inquiries. Based in Manchester, you'll support clients ranging from independent schools and care homes to private health services, helping them navigate complex legal frameworks across all UK jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on regulatory obligations including registration, funding, safeguarding, and inspection challenges for organisations in health, education, and care sectors.
  • Conduct thorough investigations involving witness interviews, evidence analysis, and report drafting, including cases involving vulnerable individuals.
  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and disposals through regulatory due diligence and advisory services.
  • Represent clients in inquests and public inquiries concerning governance, performance, and systemic failures.
  • Handle judicial review applications and proceedings before tribunals including the First-Tier Tribunal (Care Standards) and the Court of Protection.
  • Advise investors, operators, and service providers on compliance strategies and risk mitigation.

Experience and Skills

You should have around 3–5 years of post-qualification experience with a focus on regulatory law in healthcare, education, or social care. A solid understanding of UK regulatory regimes is essential, along with strong analytical, drafting, and client communication abilities. Experience in conducting investigations and advising on compliance actions—both civil and criminal—is highly valued.

Commitment to collaboration and knowledge sharing is key. You should be comfortable contributing insights through internal discussions and external publications. An interest in business development and building professional networks is beneficial.
