Position Overview As an Autonomous Vehicle Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining and optimizing the performance of autonomous vehicle fleets in Orlando. Your work ensures that mechanical, electrical, and sensor systems operate safely and efficiently, supporting the broader mission of advancing intelligent transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues in powertrain, braking, suspension, and high-voltage systems specific to autonomous vehicles
- Perform in-depth troubleshooting of CAN and LIN communication networks, power distribution, and onboard computing hardware
- Use advanced diagnostic tools to identify root causes of recurring faults and implement lasting fixes
- Calibrate LiDAR, radar, camera arrays, GPS, IMUs, and perception systems to meet precision standards
- Verify sensor alignment and performance to ensure safe and reliable autonomous operation
- Support integration and testing of new or updated sensor and hardware platforms
- Install and replace compute modules, communication units, wiring harnesses, and networking components
- Collaborate with engineering teams during software updates, data retrieval, and on-site debugging
- Execute test protocols, gather vehicle performance data, and report on firmware and hardware behavior
- Participate in on-road and controlled-environment testing, providing real-time technical support
- Respond to field escalations, vehicle recovery events, and operational disruptions
- Coordinate with remote monitoring teams to address urgent technical needs
- Keep accurate records of all repairs, calibrations, and diagnostic findings in fleet management systems
- Analyze system performance trends and recommend improvements to enhance reliability
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians and cross-functional colleagues
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in automotive, electric vehicle, robotics, or autonomous vehicle maintenance
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical vehicle systems
- Direct experience with sensor technologies such as LiDAR, radar, and camera systems, as well as compute hardware
- Proficiency with diagnostic software, scan tools, and electrical test equipment
- Skill in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in varied field conditions, including under vehicles
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE Master Technician certification, EV/hybrid certification, or OEM-specific training
- Experience working with high-voltage systems; HV safety certification is a plus
- Familiarity with Linux command line and basic scripting for diagnostic purposes
- Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, ADAS, or mobility technology
- Experience in fleet maintenance or high-demand technical environments
- Hands-on use of CAN/LIN analysis tools such as CANalyzer, SavvyCAN, or Vehicle Spy
Technical Environment
Technicians work with CAN and LIN networks, diagnostic platforms, electrical test gear, wiring schematics, LiDAR, radar, cameras, onboard computers, GPS, IMUs, perception systems, high-voltage architectures, and Linux-based tools for system analysis.
