We’re seeking a skilled backend developer to strengthen the infrastructure behind our interactive events platform. In this remote role, you’ll play a central part in designing, building, and maintaining backend systems that support large-scale digital experiences. Your work will ensure reliability, scalability, and seamless integration across multiple services during live events.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement backend services using Node.js, focusing on performance and maintainability
- Work extensively with Google Cloud Platform and Firebase, including Cloud Functions, Cloud Firestore, and Realtime Database
- Architect and develop backend components tailored to project needs, from concept through deployment
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, designers, 3D artists, and producers to deliver cohesive technical solutions
- Take ownership of smaller projects while contributing to larger initiatives under technical leadership
- Integrate with third-party systems such as payment gateways, CRM platforms, ticketing services, and Sanity.io
- Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure to handle variable traffic, especially during high-demand events
- Conduct load testing and resource tuning to ensure system stability under pressure
- Help advance Medusa, our internal backend framework, by contributing code and best practices
- Build and maintain a library of modular, reusable backend components
- Partner with platform and backend teams to refine development workflows and system standards
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience developing backend systems with Node.js
- Hands-on work with Google Cloud Platform and Firebase services
- Ability to independently lead the development of backend features for mid-sized projects
- Experience supporting technical leads in larger, team-based efforts
- Background in designing technical approaches and implementing custom integrations
- Track record managing scalable cloud environments on GCP
- Experience ensuring system performance during live events through testing and optimization
- Willingness to learn and contribute to internal frameworks like Medusa
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset when working across disciplines
- Commitment to writing clean, reusable code and improving team practices
Technology Environment
You’ll be working primarily with Node.js, Google Cloud Platform, Cloud Functions, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Realtime Database, Sanity.io, and Medusa—the company’s custom backend framework. Your contributions will directly shape the evolution of our platform’s architecture and long-term scalability.
