Own the full lifecycle of critical backend systems in a high-stakes blockchain environment. As a Backend Engineer, you’ll lead initiatives from initial scoping through design, implementation, and ongoing monitoring in production. Your work will directly impact the stability and scalability of a decentralized infrastructure powering next-generation financial applications.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement robust, high-performance systems using Rust, with a focus on clean, testable, and maintainable code.
- Build and operate distributed systems that run 24/7, ensuring Unichain remains reliable and performant under real-world load.
- Identify systemic weaknesses and drive improvements that enhance resilience and efficiency.
- Collaborate across teams to translate complex, often ambiguous challenges into actionable technical roadmaps.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support rapid incident resolution and maintain chain integrity.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 5 years of experience developing and deploying backend systems in production environments.
- Proven ability to design and evolve distributed systems or blockchain infrastructure from the ground up.
- Strong grasp of cloud architectures, large-scale debugging, and system design principles.
- Comfort navigating uncertainty—able to deconstruct open-ended problems and deliver effective solutions.
- A genuine interest in Web3, with a commitment to staying current with evolving protocols and best practices.
Preferred Experience
- Proficiency in Rust and hands-on work with the OP Stack or similar Optimism-based rollups.
- Familiarity with Reth or Kona is a strong advantage.
- Exposure to zero-knowledge proofs or cryptographic fundamentals.
- Experience with observability and time-series monitoring tools.
- Working knowledge of Go or TypeScript.
- Cloud platform experience, particularly AWS.
