Design and build software that matters — you'll play a key role in developing and maintaining mission-critical systems used by emergency service operators across the UK and Europe. As a C# Software Engineer, you'll work within an agile team to deliver reliable, high-performance backend solutions on the Guardian platform, ensuring resilience and precision under real-world pressure.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and test engineers to deliver well-engineered software components
- Design, implement, and maintain backend services using modern C# and .NET technologies
- Contribute to technical documentation, system design, and testing processes to ensure long-term maintainability
- Participate in code reviews, pull requests, and continuous integration workflows using Git
- Follow SOLID principles and proven software engineering practices to build scalable, clean code
What We’re Looking For
- At least three years of hands-on experience in C# and .NET backend development
- Strong grasp of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software architecture fundamentals
- Familiarity with ASP.NET and modern development workflows including agile methodologies
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- A formal degree in Computing Science or equivalent practical experience
- Either current NPPV3 clearance or willingness to undergo background checks, including personal and family history review
Work Environment & Flexibility
This is a hybrid role with primary remote delivery. You’ll be expected to travel occasionally to offices in Leicester or Glasgow as needed, but day-to-day work is conducted remotely, often asynchronously. The team values trust, autonomy, and clear communication.
Culture & Values
We foster a people-first environment where diverse perspectives are welcomed and authenticity is encouraged. The culture is informal — think jeans and t-shirts — but deeply committed to high performance and meaningful innovation. We support wellbeing, professional growth, and community engagement through volunteering and sustainability initiatives. Regular in-person events help strengthen team connections.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary with bonus potential and an additional two weeks’ pay annually as a holiday bonus
- Employee stock purchase plan and a strong defined contribution pension
- 25 days paid holiday plus bank holidays
- Private medical insurance and life assurance coverage
- Enhanced parental leave policies
- Access to learning programs, career development resources, and an employee assistance program
- Support for wellbeing, including mental health guidance and resilience tools
- Active commitment to carbon neutrality and corporate responsibility, including paid volunteering days
- Discounts through a widely recognized employee benefits platform
Equal Opportunity
We believe in fairness and inclusion in hiring. All qualified applicants will be considered without regard to race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
