As a Cloud Architect, you will shape the foundational design of a large-scale, cloud-native SaaS platform with a primary focus on Azure. You'll define the long-term evolution of the system architecture, ensuring it remains secure, resilient, and ready for multi-cloud deployment. This role demands deep technical expertise in distributed systems and a proven ability to operate at global scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and continuous improvement of cloud-native control-plane and data-plane architectures with regional isolation and high availability
- Define failure domains, disaster recovery protocols, and scalable capacity models to support uninterrupted service
- Own platform boundaries, API design, state management, and data durability across distributed environments
- Design and manage deployment strategies, including CI/CD pipelines, canary releases, and blue-green rollouts
- Establish infrastructure standards for security, identity, networking, and compliance in alignment with Azure best practices
- Collaborate with SRE and engineering teams on operational readiness, incident analysis, and reliability metrics (SLIs/SLOs)
- Drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code and automation to ensure consistency and efficiency
- Create developer-friendly guardrails that balance velocity with system stability and cost control
- Work closely with Product, Security, and customer-facing teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and introduce patterns that enhance platform capabilities
Qualifications
- 8+ years in software, platform, or infrastructure engineering
- 4+ years designing and managing cloud-native distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with Azure or another major public cloud (Azure preferred)
- Proven experience building and operating production SaaS platforms at scale
- Strong grasp of distributed systems, consistency models, and fault tolerance
- Experience with multi-region, multi-cloud, and disaster recovery architectures
- Familiarity with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK
- Background in cloud networking, identity management, and security fundamentals
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Track record of influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority
- Demonstrated ownership, sound judgment, and a preference for simple, effective solutions
Work Environment
This is an onsite role based in Prague, Czech Republic. You are expected to work from the office unless on approved leave, business travel, or PTO. The role requires collaboration with global teams and adherence to company policies.
