Shape the future of enterprise cloud infrastructure by leading architecture and governance for a global organization. In this role, you will define and maintain the target state for cloud platforms, ensuring they meet rigorous security, compliance, and cost-efficiency standards while supporting innovation at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and govern cloud architecture standards, including landing zones, environment models, and subscription strategies
- Serve as the final authority on architectural decisions, resolving cross-team technical conflicts and approving reference designs
- Lead or participate in architecture review boards and cloud governance forums to align technical direction
- Develop and enforce policies using policy-as-code and automated controls to ensure compliance with regulations such as ISO 27001, NIS2, and CRA
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and compliance teams to integrate security and risk management into cloud design from inception
- Implement tagging, budgeting, and cost visibility frameworks in partnership with finance and delivery teams
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and decision-making structures across architecture, security, operations, and finance
- Guide teams toward compliant and efficient cloud adoption through technical leadership and documentation
- Continuously evolve governance models in response to changing business and technology landscapes
- Maintain accountability for global cloud platforms impacting internal operations and customer solutions
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must have at least 8 years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering or enterprise architecture, with a focus on platform-level design and governance in regulated environments. Expertise in Microsoft Azure is essential. Demonstrated experience with infrastructure-as-code, policy-as-code, and automated compliance controls is required.
Deep knowledge of cloud security, regulatory frameworks, and audit processes—including internal and external cloud audits—is critical. You should have a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and engage senior stakeholders across security, engineering, finance, and operations.
Strong communication skills, independent judgment, and experience mentoring technical teams are expected. Familiarity with AWS and hybrid or multi-cloud environments is advantageous. Leadership in cloud governance transformation initiatives and relevant certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) or AWS Solutions Architect – Professional (SAP-C02) are preferred.
Work Environment
This is a globally distributed role with team members based in the UK, Netherlands, and Portugal. The position supports remote work but includes periodic international travel. You will collaborate across time zones and functions to ensure alignment and execution at scale.
