As a Cloud Computing Analyst, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing cloud-based systems that power climate research. You'll collaborate with scientists and IT professionals to refine computing workflows, improve data processing efficiency, and ensure secure, cost-effective use of cloud resources across Google Cloud Platform, AWS, and Azure.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and enhance cloud environments to support research computing needs
- Partner with research teams to adapt scientific workflows for cloud deployment
- Strengthen cloud security by applying least-privilege access models
- Monitor and manage cloud spending and resource allocation
- Design and maintain scalable architectures for infrastructure and application services
- Spot potential technology limitations or risks and develop solutions
- Create training materials and lead sessions on cloud tools and best practices
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and integrate innovations where appropriate
Qualifications
- Proven experience administering GCP or comparable cloud platforms
- History of deploying cloud-based data processing systems
- Strong programming interest with proficiency in Python, R, or C++
- Experience managing large spatiotemporal datasets
- Technical expertise in cloud CPU and GPU performance tuning
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting
- Familiarity with SQL and database management
- Experience designing HPC environments using Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code
- Background in building BigQuery workflows and optimizing large-scale data pipelines
- Skills in creating clear, effective technical documentation and training content

Compensation and Benefits
Salary ranges from $96,000 to $107,000 annually. A comprehensive benefits package is provided, with an emphasis on work-life balance and employee well-being.
