About the Role

Abbott Laboratories is hiring a Cybersecurity Specialist to help identify security risks and execute mitigation strategies, ensuring our products are secure and compliant with industry regulations. This remote position within the U.S. plays a key role in protecting product and manufacturing assets, collaborating with teams to build safe solutions for patients and customers.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with developing cybersecurity requirements for product software releases and respond to customer security questions.
  • Support efforts to protect assets by implementing security controls, participating in vulnerability assessments, documenting risks, and escalating findings.
  • Contribute to third-party vendor security reviews using established criteria.
  • Support compliance activities by tracking action items, updating documentation, and assisting with policy reviews.
  • Help prepare materials for audits, monitor security dashboards, maintain asset inventory, and participate in incident response.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to implement monitoring and security solutions for product software.
  • Participate in software security reviews and assist in identifying potential security issues.
  • Help support the security of applications across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Assist with implementing security controls to support compliance with privacy and security requirements.
  • Assist with administering and monitoring security systems following documented procedures.
  • Support troubleshooting and participate in incident response exercises for products.
  • Contribute to remediation efforts by tracking, documenting, and verifying the resolution of security findings.
  • Support vulnerability and threat management by assisting with identification and logging of issues.
  • Participate in cross-functional security initiatives by attending meetings and completing assigned tasks.
  • Help prepare training materials and share guidance to increase awareness of security risks.
  • Assist in preparing security metrics and reports by collecting data and updating dashboards.
  • Support Secure Lifecycle Process activities, including cybersecurity assessments and basic threat modeling.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in management information systems, Computer and Information Sciences, Engineering, Security Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of IT management system, cybersecurity, or relevant experience, with a strong preference for product security.
  • Minimum of 5 years of business experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of common security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Understanding of product safety risk and its relationship with product cybersecurity risk.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects with strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical skills, and judgment for problem-solving in an environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, adapting to rapidly changing business and technological needs.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Nice to Have

  • Previous work experience in a product development cybersecurity role.
  • Familiarity with the design of diagnostic equipment, medical devices, or other closely related products.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes containerization and container orchestration technologies.
  • Knowledge of Linux such as commands and file system architecture.
