Darkhorse Emergency is hiring a Data Analyst / Consultant (Fire / EMS)

About the Role

Work at the intersection of public safety and data technology, supporting fire and emergency medical services with meaningful analysis and tailored solutions. You'll gather, clean, and integrate data from diverse sources—ranging from municipal databases to client-specific systems—and transform it into clear, actionable insights. Your role spans the full project lifecycle, from initial data mapping and validation to delivering final reports and visualizations that help clients understand their operations and improve outcomes.

What You'll Do

  • Extract, process, and interpret data from Fire and EMS agencies using Excel, SQL, and Python
  • Integrate disparate datasets into a unified platform, ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Use QGIS and other tools to create geographic visualizations and spatial analyses
  • Build intuitive dashboards and reports that communicate key findings clearly
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their goals and translate them into data solutions
  • Validate data integrity and identify meaningful patterns while filtering out noise
  • Contribute to improving internal tools and workflows, especially through automation and AI-enhanced methods
  • Act as a trusted advisor, maintaining strong relationships through clear, concise communication

What We’re Looking For

You're deeply curious about data and enjoy uncovering stories hidden within complex systems. You're comfortable working independently and thrive when solving ambiguous problems. A strong attention to detail, paired with the ability to see broader trends, allows you to deliver both precision and perspective. Familiarity with emergency services or municipal data is a plus, but what matters most is a willingness to learn and adapt quickly.

Proficiency in SQL, Python, and GIS tools like QGIS is essential. You should also be skilled at simplifying technical findings for non-technical audiences and enjoy iterating creatively when initial approaches fall short. A commitment to continuous learning, especially in AI and data innovation, aligns with our culture of growth and improvement.

Why This Matters

Your work directly supports emergency response organizations in making better decisions. You’ll collaborate with a team recognized for advanced data visualization and contribute to a mission-driven company focused on community impact. This role offers the chance to grow professionally, refine your craft, and become a go-to expert in a specialized, high-value field.
