The Ascendancy Group LTD is hiring a Data Analyst

About the Role

This position is responsible for extracting, organizing, and interpreting data to support planning and assessment within the information environment. The analyst will work with diverse datasets from mission systems, open-source platforms, and enterprise databases to identify trends, anomalies, and engagement patterns across cyber, social media, and influence activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze data to evaluate campaign effectiveness using Measures of Effectiveness (MOE) and Measures of Performance (MOP), and contribute to post-operation assessments.
  • Convert complex data into intuitive dashboards, visual reports, and narrative summaries for planners and leadership.
  • Detect patterns in audience behavior, message resonance, and adversary activity across multiple information channels.
  • Collaborate with operational teams including cyber, military deception, public affairs, and operational security to align data collection and analysis with mission goals.
  • Query and manipulate data using SQL and spreadsheet tools, with opportunities to apply scripting languages like Python or R.
  • Ensure data integrity, recommend improvements in data collection, and help standardize assessment metrics across campaigns.
  • Use analytics platforms to conduct social media scraping, trend detection, and engagement analysis.
  • Brief senior staff on findings, operational impacts, and emerging trends using clear, evidence-based summaries.
  • Partner with social scientists, operations research analysts, and data specialists to strengthen research methods and integrate qualitative insights.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Science, Political Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience analyzing data in support of military operations, influence planning, or intelligence functions.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Excel; familiarity with Python, R, or similar tools is advantageous.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik.
  • Strong grasp of data validation, normalization, and metadata practices for operational reporting.
  • Willingness to travel within the supported Combatant Command’s area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work with a Combatant Command or Joint Task Force on J2, J3, or J39 staffs.
  • Background in analyzing social media behavior, message reach, PSYOP distribution, or narrative impact.
  • Experience contributing to information operations assessments or synchronization meetings.
  • Track record of briefing senior officers (O-5 and above) and preparing executive summaries.
  • Experience with statistical software such as IBM SPSS, STATA, or R.
  • Ability to define and monitor MOEs and MOPs tied to operational objectives.
  • Understanding of the interplay between information-related capabilities—MISO, MILDEC, OPSEC, Cyber, and Public Affairs—and how data supports their coordination.

Technical Environment

The role utilizes SQL, Excel, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, IBM SPSS, and STATA for data processing, analysis, and visualization.

Work Environment

This is an onsite position requiring physical presence within the operational area. The work supports national security objectives through close collaboration in a small-team setting focused on solving complex, mission-critical challenges.
