International Rescue Committee (IRC) is hiring a Data Analytics Engineer

About the Role

As a Data Analytics Engineer, you will lead the development and maintenance of analytics infrastructure within a large-scale, mission-focused environment. Your work will center on creating efficient, reusable data models and pipelines that power reporting, dashboards, and automated workflows across departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and manage analytics-ready data structures that support enterprise reporting and advanced analytics use cases.
  • Develop and refine data transformation processes using SQL and Python to ensure accuracy, performance, and scalability.
  • Build and document curated data layers that promote consistency and reuse across teams and systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to data quality, pipeline reliability, and system performance.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to define requirements and deliver actionable datasets, metrics, and visualizations.
  • Enable self-service analytics by structuring outputs for seamless integration with Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
  • Support analytics consumption in application and automation workflows by designing efficient data integrations.
  • Partner with developers to troubleshoot data issues affecting reports, apps, and automated flows.
  • Improve analytics delivery through documentation, automation, and continuous refinement of processes and standards.
  • Write and maintain SQL transformations and automated data validation tests to safeguard data integrity.
  • Guide junior team members and contribute to team-wide technical growth and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

A successful candidate will hold a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related STEM field—or have equivalent experience—and bring 3–5 years of experience in analytics engineering or similar roles. Proficiency in SQL (including CTEs, window functions, and query optimization), Python, and Git is required. Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing, and dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas) is essential.

Hands-on experience with Power BI and integrating analytics into Power Platform solutions is expected, along with familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Azure Entra ID for secure access management. You should also have a track record of collaborating with Power Platform developers and supporting analytics-driven applications.

Strong communication skills are critical, particularly the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and support business users in leveraging data effectively.

Preferred Skills

  • Advanced experience with Power BI dataset design and enterprise reporting models.
  • Experience using dbt or similar SQL-based transformation tools.
  • Familiarity with Azure data services and cloud analytics platforms.
  • Knowledge of data security, access controls, and governance practices.
  • Experience with DevOps or structured release pipelines for analytics.
  • Skill in translating business needs into scalable, maintainable analytics architectures.
  • Ability to balance technical rigor with user-centered design.
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or Dagster.
  • Understanding of machine learning concepts and AI-enhanced data workflows.

Work Environment

This hybrid role supports global operations with presence across multiple U.S. cities and international locations. The organization fosters a culture rooted in integrity, service, equality, and accountability, with strong commitments to safeguarding and inclusive decision-making. You’ll work in a collaborative, reflective environment that values critical thinking, shared power, and ethical conduct.
