Role Overview
This position is responsible for maintaining the stability and performance of enterprise database systems across a large-scale, international network. The Database Administrator will tackle advanced technical challenges, lead incident resolution, and ensure high availability of critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve intricate database problems in collaboration with internal teams, including developers and fellow DBAs
- Conduct root cause analysis on recurring system issues to prevent future disruptions
- Act as the primary escalation contact for urgent database incidents
- Document technical solutions and review knowledge base entries created by peers
- Develop and maintain procedural documentation for both technical and operational workflows
- Identify and report defects or design flaws to development groups
- Lead proactive evaluations of hosting environments to enhance system resilience
- Provide mentorship and coaching to team members to strengthen technical capabilities
Required Qualifications
- Holding a Microsoft SQL Server certification with Azure SQL certification required
- Proven experience managing SQL Server environments in mid to large organizations
- Expertise in database installation, configuration, backup and recovery, security management, and error diagnosis
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages
- Familiarity with Windows OS, Windows Clustering, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, and Active Directory
- Experience deploying and supporting enterprise software in cloud and virtualized environments, including Azure
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools such as BlackBox, Fiddler, or WireShark for system and application monitoring
- Strong organizational ability to manage multiple concurrent support cases
- Experience training or collaborating with development teams on application troubleshooting
- Advanced SQL scripting skills for diagnostics and performance tuning
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical mentoring initiatives and internal knowledge development
- Fluency in written and spoken English
