This role leads the management and optimization of Oracle databases across both on-premise and cloud platforms, with a strong focus on OCI and ExaCC. The Senior Database Administrator ensures database environments are secure, scalable, and highly available while driving performance improvements and capacity planning initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the adoption and integration of strategic Oracle platforms in hybrid and cloud environments
- Optimize database performance through proactive tuning, monitoring, and capacity analysis
- Implement and maintain high-availability solutions and disaster recovery frameworks
- Enforce database security protocols, including integration with identity providers such as EntraID and Sailpoint
- Support 24x7 operational models and lead resolution of critical incidents impacting business systems
- Oversee lifecycle management of database environments from planning through decommissioning
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards including SOX, PCI, GDPR, and export controls
- Maintain accurate CMDB records and drive asset consolidation to reduce IT costs
- Guide and mentor junior database administrators across mixed-experience teams
- Collaborate on automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and risk posture
- Lead vendor governance for onshore and offshore partners and ensure adherence to policies
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for database processes and access controls
- Stay current with emerging technologies including Snowflake, Fivetran, HVR, and open-source databases
- Participate in cross-functional projects and technology transformation initiatives
Qualifications
Candidates must have at least six years of hands-on experience with Oracle databases and two years each in data replication technologies and cloud infrastructure (OCI, ExaCC, Azure, AWS). Preferred candidates will have a degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, with additional expertise in governance, security, and full lifecycle database operations. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are essential.
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position based in Charlotte, NC. The first 90 days require full onsite presence, Monday through Friday. Afterward, a flexible hybrid schedule is supported. The role operates within a culture focused on innovation, compliance, and continuous improvement.
