Position OverviewLead the management and optimization of mission-critical database systems within a hybrid infrastructure environment. This role is responsible for ensuring database availability, performance, and security across both cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and on-premise deployments, supporting essential services delivered to the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain scalable SQL Server and PostgreSQL database solutions to support high-availability requirements.
- Perform advanced performance tuning through query optimization, indexing strategies, and resource allocation.
- Develop and enforce comprehensive backup, recovery, and disaster resilience protocols.
- Implement strict access controls and continuous monitoring to safeguard data integrity and prevent unauthorized access.
- Conduct regular audits to verify data consistency, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Diagnose and resolve complex database issues in collaboration with developers, system administrators, and IT teams.
- Document configurations, policies, and operational procedures to ensure knowledge continuity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate databases into new and existing projects.
- Ensure adherence to licensing agreements and industry best practices for database governance.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior database professionals.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience combinations:
- Master’s degree with at least one year of relevant experience,
- Bachelor’s degree with three or more years of experience,
- Associate’s degree with five or more years of experience, or
- Seven or more years of hands-on experience demonstrating the required skills.
Required expertise includes deep knowledge of database architecture, design principles, security protocols, backup and recovery methods, performance optimization, and strong problem-solving abilities. Leadership experience and effective communication skills are essential.
