As a Database Platform Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining and evolving a distributed, high-performance database environment that supports mission-critical applications. Your work will ensure data integrity, availability, and scalability across a growing global infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and support a large-scale fleet of MySQL databases accessed through ProxySQL, ensuring consistent performance and uptime
- Enhance automation frameworks to minimize manual intervention and improve system reliability
- Design and implement operational workflows that streamline database management and incident response
- Write and maintain scripts to support platform scalability, monitoring, and maintenance tasks
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues spanning the database, operating system, storage, and network layers
- Lead database stack upgrades and ensure smooth, low-risk rollouts across environments
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate database best practices into service design and deployment pipelines
What We’re Looking For
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with highly available database systems
- Proficiency in scripting or programming, with experience in automation tools
- Solid understanding of MySQL, ProxySQL, Ansible, Linux, and configuration management platforms like Puppet
- Familiarity with observability ecosystems including Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, PMM, and Icinga
- Strong grasp of server hardware, storage, networking, and OS fundamentals as they relate to database performance
- Proven ability to troubleshoot multi-layered technical challenges and implement long-term fixes
- A proactive mindset, with a commitment to knowledge sharing and cross-team collaboration
Work Environment
This role operates in a hybrid model with core office days in Geneva, Zurich, Prague, Barcelona, Paris, London, Vilnius, Skopje, or Taipei. You may work remotely up to 30% of the time, with flexible hours that accommodate team coordination.
