As an AWS Cost Optimization Specialist, you will lead the design and implementation of cloud cost strategies across global AWS environments. Your work will directly influence how engineering and finance teams understand and manage cloud spending, ensuring every dollar delivers measurable value.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute a comprehensive cost optimization plan across core AWS services including EC2, ECS, Aurora, Kafka, and OpenSearch.
- Establish consistent tagging frameworks to allocate costs accurately by product, team, region, and business unit.
- Design automated policies for non-production environments, including scheduling and shutdown routines to reduce waste.
- Optimize data storage, networking, and cross-service data transfer costs to improve operational efficiency.
- Set up proactive cost monitoring using anomaly detection and budget alerts to flag unexpected spend.
- Build interactive dashboards with AWS Cost Explorer, Athena, or QuickSight to provide real-time visibility for both technical and executive stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to guide architecture decisions toward cost-effective, scalable solutions.
- Help define long-term cloud financial governance, aligning with FinOps principles and business growth goals.
What We’re Looking For
- At least four years of direct experience managing AWS infrastructure in production, with a focus on cost reduction and efficiency.
- Deep familiarity with services like EC2, EBS, RDS, S3, EKS, Lambda, and CloudFront.
- Proven expertise in AWS Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, and managing multi-account setups through AWS Organizations.
- Hands-on experience applying FinOps practices and modeling cloud costs at scale.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform, and scripting in SQL, Athena, or Python for cost analysis.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across teams.
- Interest or experience using AI tools to detect spending trends and automate cost-saving actions.
Nice to Have
- AWS certifications in Solutions Architect, DevOps, or Advanced Networking.
- Background working in regulated environments such as PCI or SOC2.
- Experience with cloud cost platforms like CloudHealth or CloudCheckr.
- Basic knowledge of Portuguese or a willingness to learn.
- A sense of humor that matches our culture of clarity and continuous improvement.
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation and stock options from day one.
- Annual learning budget and accelerated internal development paths to support your growth.
- Flexible vacation and a hybrid work model that prioritizes outcomes over presence.
- A high-ownership culture where initiative is rewarded and progress is driven collectively.
- Collaboration with smart, driven professionals who value impact over ego.
