Responsibilities
- Create and evaluate imaging systems for spaceborne payloads, guiding them from initial design to operational deployment
- Build and sustain comprehensive performance models for imaging systems, covering radiometric, signal processing, and image fidelity aspects
- Assist in hardware evaluation and measurement tasks, including laboratory testing of optical components, sensors, and detector units
- Produce and update specifications for optical and imaging systems, along with interface criteria and testing strategies
- Work with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to ensure system requirements are correctly defined and validated
- Participate in design reviews by presenting optical performance data and test outcomes to internal teams and external stakeholders
- Identify potential performance risks in imaging systems and lead efforts to analyze and resolve them in coordination with payload development teams
- Help develop ground-based tools and test setups used for characterizing optical payloads
- Use programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, or similar to build and maintain analytical tools, data processing workflows, and simulation environments
