Role Overview
This position supports the finance and performance strategy of a growing healthcare organization by transforming complex data into meaningful insights. Reporting to the VP of Health Plan Finance, the Financial Business Analyst plays a key role in monitoring financial and clinical performance across provider networks and markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Extract, validate, and interpret data from diverse sources to generate performance and utilization reports.
- Identify trends in medical cost, membership, and quality metrics to inform strategic decisions.
- Design and maintain recurring weekly and monthly reporting dashboards that track key performance indicators.
- Respond to ad hoc data requests to support market-specific initiatives and planning cycles.
- Develop clear, professional presentations for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve data workflows, documentation practices, and reporting accuracy.
- Support process optimization and continuous improvement efforts within the analytics function.
- Communicate findings effectively, both in writing and verbally, to clinical and administrative audiences.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with internal standards and documentation requirements.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a degree in Finance or a related discipline, or demonstrate equivalent experience. A minimum of seven years in healthcare is required, with at least five years focused on business analysis, reporting, and performance modeling. Experience with business intelligence platforms and decision support systems is essential.
Proficiency in Excel—including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, and conditional formatting—is required. Strong skills in relational databases, particularly SQL Server, are mandatory. Experience working with claims and other health-related datasets is critical for success in this role.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-directed, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. They must be able to translate business needs into analytical solutions and present results clearly to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
