As a Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end performance of AI systems operating in live customer settings. You’ll design integrated workflows that combine language models, retrieval mechanisms, agent logic, and evaluation frameworks to create robust, scalable solutions that meet actual business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the deployment, monitoring, and refinement of AI systems, ensuring they perform reliably under real-world conditions
- Architect and implement multi-component AI pipelines that go beyond simple API calls to deliver intelligent, adaptive behavior
- Diagnose system behavior, identify failure points, and drive rapid improvements through iterative development and structured evaluation
- Integrate AI capabilities into existing customer platforms, balancing speed, maintainability, and long-term operability
- Collaborate directly with customer teams to understand requirements, explain system tradeoffs, and adapt solutions as needs evolve
- Take ownership of production outcomes, ensuring systems remain effective and transparent over time
What We Look For
You have at least two years of software engineering experience and a proven ability to build and maintain complex AI-powered applications. You write clean, maintainable Python and approach systems with a holistic mindset—understanding how prompts, agents, data flows, and feedback loops interact. You’re comfortable making independent technical decisions and thrive when working in uncertain or fast-changing environments.
Experience using AI tools as part of your daily workflow is essential—you rely on them for coding, debugging, design exploration, and automation. You’re also prepared to travel 25–50% of the time to work on-site with customer teams in high-visibility roles.
Environment & Culture
This role operates in a hybrid model, requiring presence in San Francisco or New York at least three days per week (Tuesday through Thursday).
