Role Overview
This position is part of a central engineering team focused on building and maintaining a unified asset discovery system across complex IT environments. The engineer will ensure reliable identification and classification of managed and unmanaged devices, including IT, IoT, and medical devices, using network-based detection methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply approved AI technologies to enhance automation, optimize workflows, and support ongoing operational improvements
- Assess new technological developments to guide platform evolution and long-term planning
- Deploy and manage discovery tools such as Armis, Runzero, and Lansweeper to maintain complete visibility across networks
- Show understanding of network scanning techniques and asset identification methodologies
- Examine system and network data to map device configurations, relationships, and dependencies
- Work with infrastructure, security, and application teams to feed discovery data into asset and configuration management systems
- Build strategies that improve the reliability and completeness of asset data in large, distributed environments
- Offer technical guidance on networking standards, system design, and best practices for asset detection
- Diagnose and resolve performance or data collection issues affecting discovery tools
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 10 years working with networking protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and SNMP, and system environments such as Windows, Linux, and cloud platforms
- At least 7 years implementing and managing discovery and scanning solutions in enterprises with 10,000+ devices
- Five or more years using tools like Armis, Runzero, Lansweeper, BMC Discovery, ServiceNow Discovery, or HP Universal Discovery
- Three or more years writing scripts in Python or PowerShell for data extraction and analysis
- Three or more years performing data analysis and generating reports on discovered assets
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry-recognized certifications such as CCNA or CompTIA Network+
- Background with IT Asset Management (ITAM) or Configuration Management Database (CMDB) platforms
- Experience in regulated sectors, particularly healthcare
- Proven skill in communicating technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Work Model
This role follows a hybrid structure. Remote work is permitted anywhere in the U.S., except for employees based in Minneapolis or Washington, D.C., who are expected to report to the office at least four days per week.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual salary ranges from $91,700 to $163,700, with additional offerings including equity stock purchase options, incentive programs, and 401k contributions. Comprehensive benefits, career development resources, and a flexible work environment are also provided.
