Responsibilities
- Define enterprise automation architecture, including frameworks, standards, guardrails, reusable patterns, and reference designs.
- Establish a unified automation ecosystem across all IT functions aligned to the CoE’s vision and mission.
- Develop the technical roadmaps for automation platforms, CI/CD practices, IaC frameworks, integration patterns, and event-driven automation.
- Contribute to building and maturing WSP’s Automation CoE operating model.
- Partner with IT teams to identify automation opportunities that improve reliability, reduce manual effort, and enhance service delivery.
- Drive adoption of standard toolsets, coding practices, design reviews, and automation quality checks.
- Architect automation solutions across IT domains including: Cloud provisioning and lifecycle management, Network and security operations, Identity and access lifecycle workflows, Endpoint automation, ITSM / service request fulfilment, Observability, alerting, and automated remediation.
- Develop reusable modules, IaC templates, pipelines, orchestration logic, API integrations, and automation libraries.
- Implement automation using modern toolsets (Terraform, Bicep/ARM, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, GitHub/GitLab pipelines, ServiceNow workflow automation, Azure Automation, etc.).
- Ensure automations are secure, auditable, observable, and scalable.
- Define guardrails that enable autonomy while protecting security and compliance.
- Embed IAM, secret management, least privilege, and auditability requirements into automation patterns.
- Establish version control practices, pipeline controls, code reviews, and lifecycle governance.
- Work closely with Infrastructure, Cloud, Network, Cybersecurity, EUC, and Operations teams to uplift automation capability.
- Lead architecture reviews, automation workshops, and design sessions.
- Mentor engineers and promote an automation-first culture across IT.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 8–10+ years of hands-on engineering and automation experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Strong architecture experience with automation platforms, IaC frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and workflow orchestration.
- Proficiency with automation tools such as Terraform, Bicep/ARM, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, GitHub/GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, and event-driven automation services.
- Experience implementing governance, standards, code quality controls, and secure automation practices.
- Solid understanding of cloud platforms (Azure preferred), networks, identity systems, and infrastructure services.
- Experience contributing to an Automation CoE, platform engineering team, or similar strategic function.
- Strong documentation, diagramming, and architectural storytelling abilities.
- Comfortable working collaboratively across a large, globally distributed enterprise IT environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Ability to work independently with low-level supervision and in a global team distributed geographically.
