Speak is hiring a Lead Learning Designer - Spanish Curriculum for English Speakers

Shape the future of Spanish language learning by leading curriculum development for English speakers in a fast-growing, globally distributed ed tech environment. As Lead Learning Designer, you'll own the end-to-end creation of high-impact Spanish content, ensuring lessons are both pedagogically sound and deeply engaging.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the full lifecycle of Spanish curriculum development, from strategy to execution, delivering timely, effective learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Marketing, and Analytics teams to align content with user needs and business goals.
  • Design and test new learning formats, using data and user insights to improve engagement, conversion, and language acquisition outcomes.
  • Guide A/B testing initiatives by developing prototype content and refining curriculum based on performance metrics.
  • Integrate AI tools into content workflows, experimenting with new methods to scale quality and efficiency.
  • Mentor junior designers and contractors, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Identify risks and dependencies across cross-language initiatives, applying sound judgment to keep projects on track.

What We're Looking For

  • Native-level English proficiency and at least four years of experience designing Spanish curriculum in an ed tech setting.
  • Deep understanding of second-language acquisition, especially in spoken fluency for adult learners.
  • Proven ability to create compelling content independently, with strong writing, editing, and project management skills.
  • Comfort using analytics to inform decisions—knowing which metrics reflect real learning progress.
  • Experience working with modern content systems, AI tools, and LMS platforms.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to communicate clearly and build trust across technical and creative teams.
  • Resourcefulness and creativity in solving instructional challenges, even under tight constraints.

Why This Matters

Learning a language transforms lives. Millions struggle to reach fluency because traditional methods don’t work. You’ll help build a more effective, human-centered path to Spanish proficiency—reaching users across more than 40 countries. This is a chance to influence both product direction and learner outcomes at a pivotal stage in the company’s growth.

Work Environment

This role supports a distributed team with hubs in San Francisco, Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, and Ljubljana. Travel and cross-regional collaboration are part of the experience. While San Francisco presence is preferred, flexibility is built into the structure.

We are committed to a diverse, inclusive workplace. Decisions are made without regard to race, religion, gender, age, disability, veteran status, or sexual orientation. We hire thoughtfully, work respectfully, and focus on building a team where excellence and mutual respect go hand in hand.
