Role Overview
As a Linux System Engineer, you will oversee a vast, globally distributed server environment running Ubuntu, Debian, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Your work will ensure system reliability, security, and performance across both cloud and on-premise platforms at an industrial scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, manage, and maintain Linux systems across a high-volume infrastructure using automated solutions and standardized configurations.
- Design and implement Ansible playbooks and roles to streamline CI/CD pipelines and automate system provisioning, patching, and routine operations.
- Enforce robust security practices by applying system hardening techniques, responding to audit outcomes, and aligning with cybersecurity best practices.
- Collaborate with support and engineering teams to troubleshoot complex system issues and maintain high availability and service uptime.
- Enhance monitoring capabilities using tools like Icinga, Nagios, and Grafana to detect and resolve infrastructure anomalies proactively.
- Manage host configurations and golden images across cloud platforms and physical hardware, including x86 and Sparc-based servers.
- Advise internal IT and DevOps teams on secure Linux deployment strategies for both local and cloud-hosted environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience administering Linux systems in large, automated environments.
- Proven expertise in Ansible Automation Platform and CI/CD workflows, with a focus on scalable automation.
- Experience integrating Linux systems with identity services such as Active Directory, PAM, SSSD, and Kerberos.
- Familiarity with enterprise patch management tools like Satellite, SUSE Manager, or BigFix in environments with over 10,000 systems.
- Solid understanding of IT security principles, cybersecurity frameworks, and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of DevOps, SRE, Agile methodologies, and ITIL processes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while adhering to organizational standards.
