Role Overview
We’re seeking a Middle to Senior Software Engineer with solid Java backend experience to help evolve and maintain a high-performance platform. You'll be responsible for building and refining backend services using Java 8–11, primarily with Spring Boot or Quarkus frameworks, and delivering reliable REST APIs and system integrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Java within cloud-native environments on AWS
- Carry out both corrective and feature-driven maintenance on a core enterprise platform
- Develop and support RESTful APIs and integration layers between distributed systems
- Engage in code reviews, technical planning, and continuous improvement of software practices
- Work closely with offshore development teams, ensuring alignment and consistent delivery
- Apply AI-assisted coding tools such as Cursor or GitHub Copilot to streamline development and improve code standards
- Support observability through structured logging, monitoring, and health checks using platforms like DataDog
Required Qualifications
- 4–5 years of hands-on experience in backend development with Java 8–11
- Proven expertise with Spring Boot or Quarkus for building scalable services
- Working knowledge of AWS cloud services and deployment models
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and integrating heterogeneous systems
- Familiarity with both relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB)
- Understanding of messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, or SNS
- Knowledge of microservices architecture, including containerization with Docker and orchestration via Kubernetes
- Experience with testing methodologies—unit testing (JUnit), integration, and contract testing (Postman/Newman)
- Background in CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or equivalent tools
- Strong grasp of software design principles, including SOLID, clean code, design patterns, and 12-Factor App methodology
- Effective communication skills, with English proficiency required for cross-team collaboration
- Experience using AI-powered development assistants to support coding workflows
Preferred Background
- Hands-on work with Quarkus in production environments
- Exposure to financial systems or platforms like Calypso
- Deeper experience with event-driven architectures and messaging tools
- Practical knowledge of DevOps, observability, and automated pipeline practices
