SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union is hiring a .NET Lead (API) Developer (Lead Software Developer)

About the Role

Lead .NET API Developer responsible for shaping technical direction and leading development efforts across complex software systems. This role provides expert-level guidance through all phases of the software development lifecycle, from architecture design to deployment, ensuring high-quality, maintainable solutions that meet business and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable API-driven applications using .NET Core and related technologies
  • Collaborate with business units to define integration strategies and automate critical processes
  • Review and improve system architecture, identifying optimization and modernization opportunities
  • Mentor development teams, promoting best practices in coding, testing, and deployment
  • Develop technical specifications and lead estimation for projects involving multiple developers
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements
  • Guide Agile teams using SCRUM methodologies and support continuous improvement of development workflows
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend solutions aligned with business goals
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts to deliver integrated software solutions on schedule
  • Produce accurate project status updates and technical documentation

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or have equivalent experience. A minimum of 7–10 years in software development is required, with deep proficiency in:

  • .NET Core and Web Services
  • JavaScript, HTML 5.0, and front-end integration
  • SQL Server and T-SQL for database design and querying
  • Agile and SCRUM development frameworks
  • Java, XML, and system interoperability
  • Problem-solving using diagnostic and fact-finding techniques

Familiarity with financial or credit union operations is essential. Preferred skills include Oracle/PL-SQL, Episys, Repgen, PowerOn, and Portlet Development.

Work Environment

This is an onsite position requiring 40 scheduled weekly hours. The organization supports inclusive hiring practices and values diverse perspectives and transferable skills. All qualified applicants will be considered without regard to protected characteristics.

Compensation & Compliance

Salary range: $127,961 – $211,136. The employer participates in E-Verify and complies with federal regulations including BSA requirements. All candidates must meet job-specific training and compliance standards.
