Role Overview
An Operational Research System Analyst is needed to integrate with operational planning teams and strengthen mission outcomes through analytical rigor. This position supports special operations and intelligence missions by applying quantitative methods to complex challenges in Irregular Warfare and Operations in the Information Environment (OIE).
Key Responsibilities
- Define clear, measurable outcomes using Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs) to evaluate mission success.
- Support intelligence and non-kinetic targeting efforts by aligning collection strategies with operational goals.
- Assess the information environment using diverse data sources, including social media, public sentiment, and operational reporting.
- Collect and analyze indicators across social, cultural, economic, political, religious, and regional domains to inform theater-level assessments.
- Coordinate intelligence requirements across Information Forces and related activities.
- Contribute to command-level collection planning by integrating performance and effectiveness metrics.
- Assess adversary capabilities, force structure, leadership, and strategic intent to support operational planning.
- Apply modeling, simulation, and data science techniques to evaluate influence campaigns and information operations.
- Deliver actionable intelligence and decision support tools to senior leaders and planners.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or another quantitative field.
- Proven experience applying quantitative analysis to military or government challenges.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional, collaborative environments.
- Proficiency in modeling, simulation, optimization, and data analysis techniques.
- Experience creating and presenting analytical products to senior decision-makers.
- Familiarity with statistical programming languages such as R, Python, MATLAB, or SAS.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of FA49 (Army ORSA) or equivalent military training program.
- Background supporting Combatant Commands, the Joint Staff, or Department of Defense components.
- Experience with Information Operations, Strategic Communications, or influence assessment.
- Knowledge of the Joint Planning Process (JPP) or campaign design methodologies.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or D3.js, or network analysis platforms such as Gephi, Palantir, or Neo4j.
Technical Environment
Analysts use tools including R, Python, MATLAB, SAS, Tableau, Power BI, D3.js, Gephi, Palantir, and Neo4j to conduct analysis and generate insights.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, onsite position. The role requires close collaboration with operational teams in a mission-driven setting.
