We are seeking an experienced PHP Developer to join our core engineering team based in Katowice, Poland. In this role, you will play a key part in designing and maintaining scalable backend systems that power a high-traffic proprietary platform in the iGaming industry. Your work will focus on building reliable, high-performance services using modern PHP 8.x and the Symfony framework.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain backend services with a focus on scalability, testability, and long-term maintainability
- Design and support RESTful and GraphQL APIs that serve both web and mobile frontends
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, product owners, and QA teams within an Agile/Scrum framework
- Optimize database performance through efficient SQL queries and schema design using PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Contribute to code quality via peer reviews and help uphold internal development standards
- Guide junior team members through pair programming and knowledge-sharing initiatives
What We're Looking For
- 3–4 years of professional PHP development experience, with strong preference for PHP 8.x
- Deep familiarity with Symfony 6 or higher
- Proven experience writing automated tests using PHPUnit, Pest, or Behat
- Solid grasp of software design principles including SOLID and DRY, and common design patterns
- Hands-on experience with SQL and ORMs such as Doctrine or Eloquent
- Working knowledge of Docker, CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions or GitLab CI), and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
- Ability to communicate effectively in English at a B2+ level
Nice to Have
- Basic Python skills for scripting or supporting data services
- Experience with message brokers like RabbitMQ or caching layers such as Redis
- Background in microservices or event-driven architectures
Work Environment
This is a hybrid role based in Katowice, offering flexibility between office and remote work. You can spend up to 40 days per year working remotely from any location.
