Role Overview
This position is responsible for managing and maintaining mission-critical PostgreSQL databases that power cloud services. The administrator will work hand-in-hand with engineering, security, and support teams to ensure databases operate efficiently, securely, and with minimal downtime. The focus will be on performance tuning, automation, and continuous improvement of database infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain PostgreSQL and MySQL databases in cloud environments, primarily on AWS and Azure
- Optimize database performance through indexing strategies, query refinement, and configuration adjustments
- Design and implement backup, recovery, and high availability solutions to ensure data integrity
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline routine tasks and improve operational efficiency
- Monitor system health, identify bottlenecks, and resolve issues proactively
- Support security and compliance initiatives by enforcing access controls and auditing practices
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and residency within the United States
- Availability to work night hours, approximately 10 PM to 7 AM Pacific Time, Monday through Friday
- 2–5 years of direct experience managing PostgreSQL databases in production environments
- Proven experience with MySQL administration alongside PostgreSQL
- Strong technical background in cloud platforms, particularly AWS and Azure
- Deep understanding of performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization techniques
- Experience configuring and managing high availability and disaster recovery setups
Work Environment
This role supports a flexible work model, allowing team members to choose between working remotely or on-site. The position requires domestic U.S. presence and adherence to a night shift schedule to align with operational needs.
