About the Role

Archer is hiring a Principal Embedded Cyber Security Engineer to join a dedicated team focused on securing next-generation electric aircraft. In this role, you will apply your specialized knowledge to ensure the safety and integrity of embedded flight control systems and software.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a principal engineer specializing in cybersecurity for embedded, safety-critical flight systems, software, and hardware, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Define and document cybersecurity planning, including security certification, risk management, verification, and continued airworthiness.
  • Perform cybersecurity assessments, including data flow analysis, threat scenario development, and preliminary security risk assessments.
  • Support the definition of security architecture at both the aircraft and ground-based system levels.
  • Validate layered security architectures, conduct common mode analysis, and assess the effectiveness of security controls.
  • Define security requirements based on architected security measures and controls.
  • Provide oversight of cybersecurity efforts across multiple aircraft systems and platforms.
  • Verify cybersecurity requirements through analysis or Blue Team testing and manage Red Team testing efforts.
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity documentation, processes, and policies, including supplier audits.
  • Interface with certification authorities to support the cybersecurity aspects of aircraft certification.
  • Foster team collaboration and support personal development initiatives.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in a related cybersecurity field.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience through the full systems and software development life cycles within a regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with diverse cybersecurity tools and technologies used for developing, testing, and analyzing safety-critical embedded systems.
  • A proactive cybersecurity mindset focused on risk identification and mitigation.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on DevOps or Site Reliability experience.
  • Experience with supplier management and Agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency with the ISO27000 framework and experience with AS9100 quality systems.
  • CISSP Certification.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary range: $220,000-$290,000.
