Role SummaryWe’re seeking a contract Researcher to support a nonpartisan initiative focused on expanding civic access through accurate, well-structured data. This position will run through December 11, 2026, and is conducted entirely remotely with flexible scheduling based on contractor availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate federal, state, and local elections, including lesser-known jurisdictions such as special districts
- Compile detailed profiles of candidates, including background, policy positions, and current office status
- Document elected roles, including qualifications, duties, and pathways to candidacy
- Verify current officeholders and their tenure in position
- Apply innovative research strategies when public information is limited or unclear
- Communicate progress proactively, flagging issues or timeline adjustments early
Required Skills
- High level of accuracy and consistency in data collection
- Strong organizational abilities and self-directed time management
- Clear, concise communication in both writing and discussion
- Ability to work independently in uncertain or evolving research environments
- Commitment to using data and technology to expand civic involvement
Preferred Experience
- Background in political or public-sector data research
- Familiarity with SQL for querying structured datasets
- Experience using GIS tools for geographic data analysis
Technical Environment
Researchers will work with SQL-based systems and geographic data platforms. Training will be provided as needed.
Work Structure
This is a project-based contractor role with no guaranteed minimum hours. Contractors set their own availability within project needs. There is no requirement to work standard business hours.
Compensation
Pay ranges from $15.00 to $18.50 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
