About the Role

The Senior Scientific Data Engineer plays a central role in shaping the core data infrastructure, driving the creation of scalable, product-ready solutions that power scientific data workflows. This position combines technical leadership with hands-on development, focusing on transforming complex instrument data into structured, actionable information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Solution Architects to define data requirements, align on objectives, and design effective integration strategies.
  • Design and implement data models, prototypes, and end-to-end pipelines that support customer-driven outcomes.
  • Investigate and develop parsing solutions for diverse scientific file formats, including .xlsx, .pdf, .txt, .raw, .fid, and proprietary vendor binaries.
  • Ensure robustness and reliability by implementing unit and integration tests, along with reusable utility components.
  • Lead quality initiatives across the engineering team, improving development practices and tooling.
  • Drive Agile sprint execution, identify process bottlenecks, and implement practical improvements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making across design and implementation phases.
  • Take ownership of delivering production-grade systems that meet critical customer needs.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a hands-on data engineer with a focus on scientific or technical data systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions, design solutions, and guide team members.
  • Strong track record in delivering reliable, scalable data integrations in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to quality, precision, and customer impact in every stage of development.

Technical Environment

Involves data modeling, integration pipelines, file format parsing, test-driven development, Agile delivery, and deep engagement with scientific instrumentation data.

Work Location

This role is based in the EMEA region, with local country alignment.
