This role focuses on transforming complex legal and financial data into strategic insights that guide how legal services are sourced, priced, and managed. The Senior Analyst works across Legal, Finance, and external law firms to analyze spending patterns, rate structures, and performance metrics, ensuring decisions are grounded in accurate, timely data.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets related to legal spend, matter types, and firm performance
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards in PowerBI to track trends in billing rates, staffing models, and regional benchmarks
- Conduct deep-dive analyses on law firm pricing, engagement models, and alternative fee arrangements (AFAs)
- Support firm selection and evaluation processes with data-driven assessments
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define reporting needs and deliver actionable insights
- Identify inefficiencies in data collection and recommend improvements to reporting workflows
- Apply statistical methods to detect patterns, outliers, and opportunities in legal service delivery
- Explore the use of AI to enhance analytics, pricing strategies, and reporting capabilities
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security across all outputs
- Coach teams on effective data use and support broader analytics maturity
Qualifications
Candidates should have at least four years of experience in data or financial analysis, preferably within legal operations or services. A bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business, Finance, or a related field is required. Experience working with law firms or legal vendors is essential.
Proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools such as PowerBI or Tableau is expected. The ideal candidate can translate complex findings into clear, strategic recommendations for leadership.
Preferred Background
- Background in pricing analytics, legal operations, or law firm management
- Familiarity with RFP processes, billing guidelines, and legal engagement models
- Ability to drive influence through insight, even without direct authority
Compensation & Benefits
This position offers a salary range of $110,000 to $140,000, with eligibility for a discretionary incentive award based on individual and company performance. Employees also accrue sick and safe leave in accordance with Minnesota law.
