As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will lead the design and implementation of intelligent systems that power how agents and clients connect. Your work will center on natural language processing, generative models, and multi-modal data integration to build tools that streamline workflows, enhance messaging, and automate key interactions.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the end-to-end science lifecycle—from problem framing and modeling strategy to evaluation and deployment—ensuring solutions align with both technical rigor and business goals.
- Design and test novel reasoning architectures and language models, bringing cutting-edge research into production environments.
- Build evaluation frameworks that assess model accuracy, detect hallucinations, and enforce safety and policy compliance in AI-generated outputs.
- Work with diverse, real-world datasets—including call logs, SMS, email, and CRM events—using big data platforms to extract, refine, and operationalize features.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to translate research into scalable, impactful products.
- Mentor scientists and engineers, contributing to technical excellence across teams and supporting the growth of PhD interns.
- Advance the organization’s scientific capabilities through internal innovation and opportunities for external publication.
What We’re Looking For
- At least five years of hands-on experience applying machine learning to complex, real-world challenges.
- Proven ability to define modeling roadmaps from ambiguous objectives and drive them to production in collaboration with engineering.
- Deep familiarity with modern NLP, large language models, and agentic AI systems, particularly in conversational or structured language applications.
- Strong experimental mindset—skilled in A/B testing, model evaluation, and linking scientific metrics to customer or business outcomes.
- Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch and Transformers.
- Commitment to code quality, testing, and version control practices.
- Ability to communicate technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building language systems with strict logic, business rules, or conversational constraints.
- Familiarity with agentic LLM frameworks or tool-using assistants.
- Background in reinforcement learning or fine-tuning methods like RLHF, RLAIF, or SFT to improve AI behavior over time.
- PhD in a STEM field or publications in AI/ML venues.
- Track record of mentoring junior researchers and contributing to shared technical practices or open research.

Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary: $160,900–$257,100 annually in CA, CT, MD, MA, NJ, NY, WA, and DC; $152,900–$244,300 in CO, HI, IL, MN, NV, OH, RI, and VT.
- Equity awards available based on experience, performance, and location.
