Jerry.ai is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer in Toronto to join a critical, stealth project on the DriveShield™ team. You will play a key role in building scalable and high-performance backend systems that enhance driver safety and power our growth.
What You'll Do
- Focus on non-functional requirements of backend applications, including service availability, scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
- Oversee system design and architecture to ensure robust and scalable solutions.
- Develop and optimize stream processing applications using Kafka and Flink.
- Profile and optimize application performance.
- Collaborate with data scientists to deploy and integrate models in production.
- Handle data processing, sanitization, validation, and data QA.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Proficient in at least one core language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, JavaScript).
- Expertise in Kafka, Flink, and AWS.
- Experience building stream processing applications.
- You are known for shipping products and features lightning-fast.
Nice to Have
- Startup experience at a high-growth company.
- Previous knowledge of working with geospatial data.
Technical Stack
- Languages: Java and sometimes Python.

- Hosting infrastructure: AWS.
