Join a specialized team supporting critical mainframe systems within a secure environment. This role focuses on the administration and optimization of IBM CICS and Message Queuing (MQ) software running on z/OS platforms. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, performance, and security across CICS and MQ environments through proactive maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the installation, configuration, and ongoing support of CICS and MQ software, including patches, updates, and version upgrades.
- Respond to system incidents, analyzing logs, traces, and dumps to resolve abends and operational anomalies efficiently.
- Ensure all configurations and changes comply with established security policies and audit requirements.
- Support database and application migrations by providing expert-level CICS and MQ administration.
- Design and maintain backup and recovery procedures for critical messaging and transaction systems.
- Configure and support CICS web services, working closely with development teams to meet integration needs.
- Use SMP/E to manage software distribution and apply system-level updates as lead technician.
- Document configurations, procedures, and system changes to support continuity and compliance.
- Collaborate with IT teams using Remedy for ticket management and SharePoint for knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold an active Secret Clearance and possess a solid foundation in mainframe system administration. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but relevant experience may substitute. Required certifications include one of the following: A+ CE, CCNA-Security, Network+ CE, or SSCP.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools is expected, along with hands-on experience in z/OS environments, CICS parameter tuning, and MQ operations. Strong analytical, communication, and documentation abilities are essential for success in this role.
