As a Senior Cloud Database Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of SQL Server databases in a highly available, global environment. Your work ensures systems run efficiently, securely, and with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, monitor, and maintain SQL Server instances across hybrid and cloud environments
- Optimize database performance through proactive tuning and query analysis
- Design and enforce backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Implement and audit database security controls and access policies
- Manage replication topologies and ensure data consistency across distributed systems
- Support Availability Groups to maintain high availability and failover readiness
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to resolve complex technical challenges
Qualifications
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 5 years managing production SQL Server databases
- Extensive experience with TSQL development and scripting
- Proven track record implementing replication and Availability Groups
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and commitment to meeting deadlines
Preferred Skills
- Experience with SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS
- Familiarity with modern data platforms such as Kafka, MSK, Snowflake, Aurora DB, and SNS
- Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, and associated command-line tools
- Scripting experience with PowerShell or C#
- Exposure to Rubrik, TFS, or GitHub for automation and source control
- Relevant certifications such as MCSE, MCDBA, or OCP are a plus
