Shape how organizations use data by building reliable, high-performance data models on Google Cloud Platform. As a Senior Consultant - GCP Data Engineer, you'll use dbt to transform raw data into structured, trustworthy sources that power business reporting and analytics.
What You'll Do
- Design and maintain scalable data models using dbt, applying Dimensional and One Big Table (OBT) methodologies.
- Translate business requirements into technical implementations, ensuring clarity and accuracy in data outputs.
- Develop and manage workflows in BigQuery and GCP, focusing on efficiency, cost optimization, and reliability.
- Write clean, optimized SQL for complex transformations and analysis.
- Monitor and maintain the health of dbt projects, resolving issues in data pipelines and scheduling.
- Apply version control and CI/CD practices to manage analytics code across its lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data needs and implement robust, well-documented models.
- Champion data quality, documentation, and modeling standards across projects.
- Stay current with cloud technologies and evolving best practices in data engineering.
What We're Looking For
- Expert-level SQL skills with hands-on experience in dbt and GCP, particularly BigQuery.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts including Kimball and Dimensional Modeling.
- Proven ability to work directly with stakeholders to turn business questions into data solutions.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, and agile workflows in analytics environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot pipeline issues and ensure data integrity.
Preferred Background
- Certifications in dbt or Google Cloud Platform.
- Exposure to other cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, or tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Redshift.
- Knowledge of distributed data systems and big data technologies.
- Proficiency in Python or related scripting languages.
- Understanding of data governance and compliance frameworks.

- Salary range: £50,000 – £70,000 per year (dependent on experience), or competitive day rates for contractors (Outside IR35).
