Role Overview
This position is responsible for managing core cost accounting functions, ensuring precision in financial data across enterprise systems. Reporting to the Cost Accounting Manager, the analyst will maintain cost integrity within the ERP platform and support accurate financial disclosures.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee ERP inventory modules and lead the annual standard cost update process.
- Establish and update labor and overhead rates in alignment with MRP data.
- Conduct regular assessments of product margins and standard cost accuracy.
- Reconcile inventory-related general ledger accounts monthly.
- Ensure cost documentation meets internal, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
- Generate and deliver clear cost analysis reports for internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with operations to evaluate costing models and profitability trends.
- Partner with Procurement to analyze material cost fluctuations and forecast impacts.
- Manage operational reporting templates and distribute key performance metrics including scrap, efficiency, productivity, and inventory adjustments.
- Coordinate monthly inventory reviews with Materials, verifying data accuracy against perpetual records.
- Review deferred variance reports and associated journal entries each month.
- Lead quarterly excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory analysis and report plant-level impacts.
- Maintain and compare monthly sales forecasts against actuals at the finished goods level.
- Act as Finance lead for the annual physical inventory process.
- Perform monthly warehouse audit sampling to validate cycle count reliability.
- Monitor high-value cycle counts ($500+), ensuring proper review by Finance.
- Adhere to company policies and external regulations in areas including trade compliance, taxes, labor, and environmental health & safety.
- Develop and maintain finance and cost accounting procedure documentation.
- Support record retention initiatives and internal/external compliance audits.
- Take on additional tasks as business needs evolve.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of 4–5 years of direct experience in cost accounting roles.
- Working knowledge of both Mexican and U.S. GAAP standards.
- Experience with MRP or ERP systems; Oracle experience is advantageous.
- Familiarity with C-TPAT and OEA guidelines.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint; working knowledge of Power BI or Domo.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational capabilities, and analytical reasoning.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license and active U.S. visa for cross-border travel.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment requiring collaboration and quick response.
- Fluency in English required.
