Shape the future of a growing marketplace through data science leadership. In this role, you'll architect and deliver machine learning solutions that directly influence how users discover, interact with, and trust the platform. Your work will span from foundational research to production deployment, with measurable impact on user experience and core business outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end development of ML systems—from hypothesis formulation and data analysis to A/B testing and scalable deployment.
- Design and evaluate prompt strategies for Large Language Models to improve features like automated categorization and user-facing messaging.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to align data science initiatives with long-term customer value and platform goals.
- Advance search relevance and personalization using learning-to-rank techniques and deep learning methods.
- Identify high-impact opportunities in large-scale data to improve conversion, retention, and fraud detection.
- Build frameworks for evaluating and deploying LLM-powered agents with safety and accuracy in mind.
- Enhance risk detection and reputation systems to support a secure, trustworthy community.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience delivering production-grade machine learning models and data pipelines.
- 4+ years of professional Python development and advanced SQL skills for querying distributed data systems.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong foundation in classical NLP techniques and machine learning tasks such as text classification and semantic analysis.
- Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras.
- Proven ability to train and deploy models in cloud environments, particularly using Databricks or SageMaker.
- Experience mentoring team members and leading technical reviews.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to non-technical audiences.
Nice to Have
- Real-world LLM applications, including prompt engineering and model fine-tuning.
- Experience deploying models as microservices on AWS.
- Proficiency with Spark for large-scale data processing.
- Familiarity with image-based deep learning methods like CNNs or ResNet.
Technology Environment
Work with a modern data stack including Databricks, SageMaker, BigQuery, Python, SQL, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, Spark, and AWS. You'll also engage deeply with LLMs and generative AI systems shaping the next generation of product features.
Work Model
This role follows a hybrid structure with a primary location in Bellevue, WA. Remote work is available for residents of Florida, with a flexible hybrid arrangement. Regular in-person collaboration may be expected based on team needs.
