Role Overview
Join a global IT team as a Senior Database Administrator, responsible for managing and optimizing database systems that support critical business functions. You will play a key role in maintaining system performance, security, and availability across multiple environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee capacity planning for database management systems to ensure scalability and efficiency
- Coordinate and execute patching schedules for production and non-production databases
- Design and implement backup strategies and disaster recovery protocols
- Ensure compliance with internal audit and governance standards
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for database configurations and processes
- Support the development of database architecture, policies, and operational standards
- Diagnose and resolve database issues promptly to minimize downtime
- Collaborate on initiatives to modernize database infrastructure and improve data security
- Engage with new technologies and platforms to expand technical capabilities
Required Qualifications
- Degree in information technology, computer information systems, or a related field
- Minimum of six years of experience in database administration and support
- Strong command of SQL Server, with working knowledge of Oracle, Informix, DB2, MongoDB, and DynamoDB
- Proven experience with Always On, Log Shipping, SQL Audits, replication, and SQL Agent Jobs
- Familiarity with performance tools such as Query Store, Resource Governor, sp_whoisactive, and sp_blitz
- Solid understanding of IT security, TCP/IP, and database structures including tables, stored procedures, and optimization techniques
- Experience with GitHub and software release management processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently, lead initiatives, and collaborate across teams
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP
- Background in automation using Ansible, Terraform, or Jenkins
- Knowledge of monitoring solutions such as Datadog, Nagios, or Zabbix
- Experience with containerization via Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases like Cassandra and Redis
- Exposure to data warehousing platforms such as Snowflake or Redshift
