As a Senior Database Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the reliability, performance, and security of cloud-based database systems. You'll design architectures that ensure data durability and system resilience across multiple environments, with a strong focus on high availability and fault tolerance.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement database solutions that meet scalability and reliability demands across production, staging, and sandbox environments
- Deploy and manage cloud database resources using Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform and Terragrunt
- Diagnose and resolve performance issues at the query, schema, and infrastructure levels
- Strengthen backup, recovery, and disaster resilience strategies across regions and cloud accounts
- Collaborate with infrastructure and SRE teams to improve monitoring, alerting, and system observability
- Automate routine database operations to minimize manual effort and improve consistency
- Support incident response efforts, including root cause analysis and post-mortem improvements
- Advise development teams on secure schema design, efficient migrations, and data access patterns
What We’re Looking For
You bring deep experience in managing relational and NoSQL databases at scale, particularly Postgres, MySQL, and MongoDB. Familiarity with AWS database services—including RDS, Aurora, ElasticCache, and S3—is essential. You’re proficient in automation tools and have a proven ability to guide engineers through sound database practices.
Experience with GitLab, GitHub gh-ost, or similar tooling is a plus. You thrive in fast-moving environments where solving complex data challenges is part of the daily rhythm.
