Role Overview
This position is central to maintaining and improving the ICT infrastructure that supports emergency services. As a Senior ICT Engineer, you will deliver technical expertise across ongoing operations, system upgrades, and project rollouts. The role operates in a hybrid capacity, combining remote work with site visits, and includes participation in a rotating on-call schedule to ensure continuous service availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver second-line support for ICT systems, including hardware, software, networks, and applications
- Design, test, and deploy new technologies and system enhancements efficiently
- Maintain accurate documentation for configurations, network maps, and operational procedures
- Coordinate with external vendors to meet service level agreements and technical standards
- Manage infrastructure lifecycle processes and forecast capacity needs
- After training, join a 24/7 on-call rotation on a one-week-in-four basis
- Follow ITIL frameworks to ensure consistent and reliable service delivery
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems and Active Directory administration
- Experience deploying Microsoft security updates across endpoints and servers
- Solid understanding of networking and core IT infrastructure principles
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Capacity to work autonomously or collaboratively within a team
- Security clearance at NPPV3 & SC level, or eligibility to obtain
- Valid UK driving license
- Hands-on experience with CAD systems, ICCS platforms, and Fire Station End / GD92 / MDT support
- Working knowledge of Azure, Office 365, backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Familiarity with Manage Engine, Microsoft SCCM, Intune, and mobile device management tools
- Background in service-level-driven support environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in emergency services or other high-availability sectors
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, ITIL, or equivalent qualifications

Technologies in use include Windows OS, Active Directory, Microsoft security patching, networking infrastructure, Azure cloud services, Office 365, backup and disaster recovery platforms, Manage Engine, SCCM, Intune, mobile device management, CAD systems, ICCS, and Fire Station End / GD92 / MDT devices.
Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid role based in the Northern region, offering flexibility in work location. You may work remotely, attend regional offices, or travel to customer sites as required. A company vehicle is provided for work-related travel.
