As a Senior Mobile Engineer on the Player Gateway team, you'll play a central role in building and refining the mobile entry points for players across the RuneScape universe. You'll lead development efforts across both iOS and Android platforms, ensuring robust, secure, and seamless experiences from first launch to ongoing engagement.
What You’ll Do
- Drive full lifecycle development with a focus on secure-by-design principles, automated testing, code reviews, and reliable deployment workflows.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to fellow engineers, helping shape best practices and elevate team-wide engineering quality.
- Own the delivery and integrity of complex mobile initiatives, ensuring solutions meet performance, scalability, and stakeholder requirements.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement backend-integrated mobile architectures that support long-term growth.
- Identify and act on opportunities to modernize systems, improve tooling, and refine development processes across the engineering organization.
- Support a resilient production environment through on-call responsibilities and proactive issue resolution.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven expertise in native iOS (Swift or Objective-C) and Android (Kotlin or Java) development, with deep understanding of platform-specific behaviors, lifecycle management, permissions, and app store compliance.
- Experience designing secure, maintainable mobile architectures that interact efficiently with backend microservices.
- Strong familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, automated testing frameworks, and performance profiling tools.
- Excellent debugging, optimization, and problem-solving abilities, particularly within large, established codebases.
- A track record of mentoring developers and contributing to engineering standards and knowledge sharing.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with C++ in mobile or game development contexts.
Work Environment
This role supports flexible working, with most work conducted remotely. Candidates should be located near or willing to relocate to the Cambridge, UK area to attend in-person sessions as needed.
