LivePerson is hiring a Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

Shape the future of scalable conversation technology by joining a team that builds mission-critical services for a global platform. In this role, you'll take ownership of core backend systems, ensuring they perform reliably at scale. Your work will directly impact how businesses and users interact through real-time messaging.

What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, and maintain high-throughput services using Java within a distributed microservices architecture
  • Drive improvements in system stability, performance, and code quality across the platform
  • Take full operational ownership of services, including participation in on-call rotations
  • Collaborate with engineers and product stakeholders to refine and prioritize feature development
  • Apply modern technologies to solve complex challenges at scale, across hybrid environments
  • Contribute to technical decision-making and help define the long-term direction of the product

What We're Looking For

  • At least four years of hands-on experience with Java development
  • Proven background in building and operating large-scale, distributed systems
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS, as well as on-premise infrastructure
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Strong communication skills in English, with experience working across global teams
  • Knowledge of JavaScript is a plus

Technology Environment

You'll work with a modern stack including Java 8 and 11, Spring Boot, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and event-driven architectures, across hybrid cloud and on-premise environments. Databases include MySQL, Cassandra, Couchbase, and Elasticsearch, with infrastructure managed through Puppet and secured via OAuth2.0 and Vault.

Work Environment & Benefits

This role supports remote work with flexible hours, based in Germany. There are no rigid schedules—focus on outcomes, not clock time. You’ll receive 28 vacation days, 33 days of flexible PTO, 5 care days, and paid public holidays. Additional benefits include an employer-contributed pension plan, employee stock purchase options, annual performance bonuses, and support for professional growth.

Stay connected through monthly team gatherings, with internet and mobile cost support for remote work. Volunteering days encourage community engagement, and the remote-first model ensures you can work from wherever suits you best.

Our Culture

We value diverse perspectives and believe inclusion fuels innovation. Everyone is empowered to contribute, grow, and shape their path. We embrace individuality and support a workplace where people from all backgrounds can thrive. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we welcome applicants regardless of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristics.
