Join a team dedicated to advancing Linux kernel technology for automotive and industrial use cases. In this role, you'll focus on enabling new Arm-based hardware platforms and integrating them into a secure, real-time In-Vehicle Operating System. Your work will directly impact the reliability, performance, and functional safety of embedded solutions deployed in demanding environments.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with engineers, platform vendors, and automotive partners to define and implement kernel configurations
- Engage with the upstream Linux community by submitting patches and maintaining kernel stability
- Backport critical fixes and features to supported system releases
- Develop and maintain kernel packages across multiple platforms
- Support functional safety practices by evaluating kernel behavior and system integration
- Work closely with engineering, quality assurance, product, and documentation teams to deliver robust solutions
- Debug low-level boot and driver issues across diverse embedded environments
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background in Linux kernel development, including device drivers and board bring-up
- Experience with boot optimization, Device Tree, and ACPI on embedded systems
- Proficiency with Git and upstream contribution workflows
- Familiarity with containerization tools such as Podman in Linux environments
- Hands-on experience with Android, its build system, and Android Automotive
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a small team setting
- Understanding of embedded ecosystems and distribution kernel maintenance
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of Arm processor boot sequences
- Experience working with chipmakers, automotive OEMs, or tier 1 suppliers
- Background in functional safety standards
- Experience with PREEMPT_RT, network drivers, or bootloaders like UBOOT, grub, or UEFI
- Familiarity with Fedora, CentOS, or RHEL environments
